Transfers - Overview

The Location Transfers module lets users move inventory from one location to another (a Location Transfer) or within a single location (a Storage Transfer).

Location Transfers (Sender/Receiver Initiated):

Sender Initiated: Created at the sending location and reconciled at the receiving location.
Receiver Initiated: Created at the receiving location, reviewed at the sending location, and reconciled at the receiving location.
Can use "Smart Pick" when transferring from a designated supply location.
Considered "adjusted" at the sending location and "received" at the receiving location.

Storage Transfers:

Created and reconciled at the same time.
Considered "adjusted" in inventory.

Product Availability:

A product can only be included on a transfer if all of the following are true:

When transferring to another location (an “external” transfer), only products that have location product records at the receiving location can be selected.
Those location product records must have primary storage locations other than "Unassigned" and must have the "Loc. Transfer" box checked.
The product must have an On-Hand quantity in inventory and the Issue Quantity cannot be more than the On-Hand quantity. {Note): This restriction will not apply to "Non-Stock" products if the "Allow Transfer of Non-Stock Items with Insufficient Available Quantity" preference has been enabled in Enterprise Manager.
If the "Use Single Company Department" preference is not enabled in Enterprise Manager:

The company product must be linked to a company department.
The company department must be linked to a location department for the current location (where the user is logged in).
The location department must be linked to the application user creating the transaction.

Note: Location Transfers may be generated automatically based on preference settings in Enterprise Manager.
