Transfers - Overview
The Location Transfers module lets users move inventory from one location to another (a Location Transfer) or within a single location (a Storage Transfer).
Location Transfers (Sender/Receiver Initiated):
- Sender Initiated: Created at the sending location and reconciled at the receiving location.
- Receiver Initiated: Created at the receiving location, reviewed at the sending location, and reconciled at the receiving location.
- Can use "Smart Pick" when transferring from a designated supply location.
- Considered "adjusted" at the sending location and "received" at the receiving location.
Storage Transfers:
- Created and reconciled at the same time.
- Considered "adjusted" in inventory.
Product Availability:
A product can only be included on a transfer if all of the following are true:
- When transferring to another location (an “external” transfer), only products that have location product records at the receiving location can be selected.
- Those location product records must have primary storage locations other than "Unassigned" and must have the "Loc. Transfer" box checked.
- The product must have an On-Hand quantity in inventory and the Issue Quantity cannot be more than the On-Hand quantity.
- If the "Use Single Company Department" preference is not enabled in Enterprise Manager:
- The company product must be linked to a company department.
- The company department must be linked to a location department for the current location (where the user is logged in).
- The location department must be linked to the application user creating the transaction.
Note: Location Transfers may be generated automatically based on preference settings in Enterprise Manager.
