Recipe Details: Scaling

The Scaling tab of the Recipe screen can be used to scale any recipe up or down when the needed batch size is different from the recipe’s standard batch. The system will automatically calculate the amount of each ingredient to be used based on the entered batch size. Recipe scaling includes conversion calculations for certain metric Package Types.

Corporate users can also use the Scaling tab to analyze the cost of each recipe in various markets.  See "Scaling for Market Costs" for more information.

 

Scaling for Batch Size:

  1. Under the Products menu, select Recipe.
  2. To edit a recipe record, click on the Recipe Name hyperlink.
  • All tabs are visible by default. To show/hide a tab, click on the Menu icon and select the Tabs option.

    From the pop-up menu, check to show or uncheck to hide the desired tab(s).
  1. Click on the Scaling tab.
  • If necessary, edit the Scale Factor for an individual component. Enter a value between ‘0’ and ‘1’ (using decimal quantities) to reduce the factor by which the product is multiplied when the recipe batch size is scaled up or down. For example, to scale a component to increase or decrease by 75% of its original quantity, enter '.75' in the Scale Factor field.
  1. To increase or decrease the Batch Size, enter a new Batch quantity, then click out of the field.
  2. The scaled quantities will appear in the Calc Quantity column. The Scaled column shows these quantities in easily measurable terms.
  1. Click the Disk (Save) icon to save your changes.
  2. To download and print the information displayed, click the Printer (Export) icon and select the desired options.
  3. If necessary, click on any other tab as needed to configure settings on that tab. If not, skip to the next step.
  4. When finished, click the X (Close) icon to return to the summary screen.
