The Production tab includes the following information about the recipe.

  1. Under the Products menu, select Recipe.
  2. To edit a recipe record, click on the Recipe Name hyperlink.
  • All tabs are visible by default. To show/hide a tab, click on the Menu icon and select the Tabs option.

From the pop-up menu, check to show or uncheck to hide the desired tab(s).
  1. Click on the Production tab.
  2. Configure the desired settings on this tab as noted below.
  • Minimum Batch and Maximum Batch – In Net-Chef Daily Prep, if the "Actual Quantity" entered exceeds these parameters, it will be highlighted but the user will be able to proceed.
  • Prep Time, Shelf Life – Indicates how many 'Days', 'Hours', or 'Minutes' it takes to prepare the recipe and how long the batch should be kept in inventory respectively. These settings impact the "Recommended Production for Prep" value displayed in the Net-Chef Daily Prep screen, as they help determine the time frame for calculating historical and (therefore) projected consumption.
  • Batch Rounding Based On – For the Net-Chef Prep Reports, this indicates whether Projected Consumption for this recipe should be rounded to the nearest 'Whole Batch Unit' (default), 'Half Batch Unit', or 'Quarter Batch Unit'.
  • Default Storage Container – For the Net-Chef Prep Reports, this indicates the size container that the produced recipe should be stored in. (This list is populated by Package Types enabled for 'Line Check'. )
  • Rounding Rules – For Daily Prep, this determines how the application treats the "Recommended Production for Prep" quantity, based on whether the calculated value is < Minimum Batch, in between, or > Maximum Batch.
  • 'No Rounding' – The value will not be rounded.
  • 'Logical Rounding' – The value will round down to the nearest whole number if < .4 or up if .5 or >.
  • 'Round Up' – The value will round up to the nearest whole number.
  • 'Round Down' – The value will round down to the nearest whole number.
  • Production Type – This setting determines whether component ingredients from the location will be used to make this recipe. If necessary, this attribute can be set for individual locations on the Location tab.
  • Prep Report Cons. Rounding – For the Net-Chef Prep Reports, this indicates whether Projected Consumption for this recipe should 'Round Up' (default), 'Round Down' or if there should be 'No Rounding' (rounds logically to 2 decimals).
  • Prep Report Shelf Life Rounding – For the Net-Chef Prep Reports, this indicates whether the Shelf Life Max for this recipe should 'Round Up', 'Round Down' (default) or if there should be 'No Rounding' (rounds logically to 2 decimals).  {Note}Closed: The (i) Info icon explains that this setting only applies if the Shelf Life is > 1 day.

See "Determining Product Depletion and Recipe Costing" for more information about "Production Type".

  • Calculate Actual/Theoretical Cost for Recipe Item – When checked here, the Actual/Theoretical Cost reports will display costs for the recipe item (not its components) at all locations; this can be set for specific locations on the Location tab.  When processed via Net-Chef Daily Prep, the recipe will be considered "Received" and the costs of its components will be backed out of the Actual Cost calculation under the heading of "Production Consumption Reversal". This box can only be checked if "Production Type" = 'Production' on this tab and "POS Decrement" = 'Item' on the Recipe tab.

Note: When a prep recipe includes another prep recipe as a component, it is recommended that if utilized, this should be checked only for the top-level recipe; otherwise, if checked for the sub-recipe, the cost of that recipe would be applied to the top-level recipe.

  • Include this recipe in the Net-Chef Prep Report – This indicates whether or not the recipe is eligible to be included in the Net-Chef Prep Report. The setting selected here will be the default setting for locations added to the Location tab, and will be used for all locations that have not been added to the Location tab. A recipe can be included even if it is NOT an eligible Prep Recipe.
  • Prep Station – By default, completed quantities of the recipe will be added to the storage location linked to the station selected; the storage can be changed during the prep process.
  • Recipe Class – Allows the product to be marked as either "Intermediate" (a recipe that is prepared for use in other recipes but will never be sold on its own, such as marinara sauce) or "Sales Item" (a recipe that will be sold to the consumer, such as lasagna).
  • Lot Tracking – Check this box if this recipe product will need to be tracked by lot throughout the application.
