Printing Labels

Authorized users can print labels from the Inventory Setup screen. When a user clicks the "Labels" button, the application will produce a pop-up window in which the user can select the appropriate label type and the number of labels to print.

  1. In the pop-up window, select the appropriate Label Type.  The selected setting will become the default for this PC.
  • If the selected Label Type is ‘System’, the application will produce sheet(s) of labels in PDF format; the size of the labels is based on the "Invoice Label Size" preference defined in Enterprise Manager. The labels will include the product name, product number and bar code.
  • If the selected Label Type is ‘Cognitive’, the labels will print directly to the Cognitive printer. These labels are 1” high and 1.25” wide, and are printed on strips of blank label paper 2 labels wide.
  • If the selected Label Type is ‘Retail’, the application will produce sheet(s) of labels that are 1.0” high by 2.0” wide (i.e. 40 on an 8.5” x 11” sheet) in PDF format. The labels will include the product name, product number bar code, and the location’s recipe price (if defined).
  1. If necessary, enter or edit the Number of Labels to print.
  2. Click Print. In the Export pop-up, choose the following options:
  1. File Format – PDF (default), Excel, or CSV
  2. Page Format – A4, Letter (default), or Legal
  3. Orientation – Landscape (default) or Portrait
  4. When ready, click Export. The pop-up will close and the labels will be exported to the selected format. This file can then be opened and printed.
  1. When finished, click Close.

Related Setup in Enterprise Manager

  • Company Products – Corporate users must ensure that the Company Product Numbers for the retail items requiring labels must be the same as the numbers the POS scanner will recognize.  For the Cognitive Label Printer, these are 12-digit numbers.
  • Recipe Prices - All items sold through a POS system must have a Recipe record. If a “Recipe Price” has been set up for the item/location on the Location tab of the recipe record, the application will use that price. If not, the application will use the “Ideal Price per Portion” from the recipe header; otherwise it will use 0.00.
