Defining a Wage Matrix

The Wage Matrix screen will allow authorized users to create a list of wage rates that employees can be paid, based on their age and job level experience. (See "Job Levels" for more information.)  If a wage matrix is linked to a location (see "Location Details: Labor" for more information), pay rates for an employee at that location will be determined based on the specific job level/age combination assigned to each of the employee's positions in the employee record in Net-Chef.

Note: This screen is specifically for use by Restaurant companies based in Australia.

  1. Under the Labor menu, click Wage Matrix.
  2. Click the Plus (Add) icon to create a new matrix, or click on the appropriate row to modify an existing one.
  1. Enter the Matrix Name.
  2. The Effective Date is the first day of the post period during which the rates will take effect. It defaults to the next available weekly period.  (Users cannot make a wage matrix effective for a week that is already in progress, and for which locations may have already started processing payroll records.)  If necessary select another, later date from the drop-down.

Example If the Company "Week Ending Day" is 'Sunday', and today is Sunday March 11, 2018, the first available date in the drop-down will be March 12, 2018. However, if today is Monday March 12, the first available date in the drop-down will be March 19, 2018.

  1. Click Add.
  2. Select a Job Level from the drop-down.
  3. Enter the Age for rates at this job level.

Note: In Net-Chef, employees may be associated with a Job Level/Age combination for any age level greater than their age. The highest age for a given job level will be available for employees that are this age or older.

  1. Enter the Regular Rate for this job level/age combination.
  2. If applicable, enter the Saturday Rate for this job level/age combination.
  3. If applicable, enter the Sunday Rate for this job level/age combination.
  4. Repeat steps 5 - 10 for each successive job level/age combination as needed.
  5. If necessary, click the Trash Can (Delete) icon to remove an entry.
  6. When finished, click the Disk (Save) icon.
  7. To download and print these entries, click the Printer (Export) icon and select the desired options.
