Schedule
Inventory Counts
The Inventory module lets users schedule
specific inventory events for various days within a post period. For example,
if the post period ends on Sunday but the Meat Freezer needs to be counted
on Thursday, a user can schedule that inventory, print a count sheet just
for the Meat Freezer, and enter the counts on Thursday. Any variances
captured during a scheduled inventory become adjustments, so that the
inventory data remains accurate.
Inventory counts can be scheduled based on the following "types": Template, User Defined
Category, Category, Subcategory, Microcategory, Storage Location, or All Products. For a detailed description of each Type, click
HERE.
-
Template: Corporate can create Templates in Enterprise Manager and, if allowed, managers can create or modify them in Net-Chef. They can be used to filter the list of available products when creating orders. When scheduling counts, you can select one or more Templates to count your most frequently ordered products. For example, you can choose to count your Top 20 High Volume Products 2-3 times per week, so that you know exactly how much you have before you order more.
-
User Defined
Category: Corporate can create 'Product'-based User Defined Categories to group otherwise unlike products together. When scheduling counts, you can select one or more of these options to count certain high value or "problem child" products. For example, you can choose to count your "Critical Items" 2-3 times per week so you can keep closer track of them.
-
Category/Subcategory/Microcategory: When creating products, Corporate groups like products together into Categories, Subcategories, and sometimes even Microcategories. When scheduling counts, you can select one or more of these options. For example, you can choose to count your Meats on Monday {Category}, just your Liquors (not all Beverages) on Tuesday {Subcategory}), etc.
-
Storage Location: When creating products, Corporate assigns them to a storage area within your location; managers usually have the option to change a product's primary storage and, if necessary, add it to one or more secondary storages. When scheduling counts, you can select one or more Storage Locations to count. For example, you can choose to count your Meat Freezer on Monday, your Walk In on Wednesday, etc.
- All Products: You can count all products in your inventory before the end of the Post period.
Inventory
events can only be scheduled for a particular date if:
- The inventory event is for a date within an open (unposted) period. {Note}
: If it is a long Post period, such as the first period of a new location, counts can only be scheduled within the last 90 days of the Post Date.
Scheduling an Inventory event:
- From the Inventory menu, select Create/Review Inventories.
- Select a Post Period from the
drop-down list.
- Click New Scheduled Inventory.
- From the drop-down, select the Date you plan to perform the count.
- The Inventory Types are displayed as section groups. Click the ( V ) (Expand) icon at the far right of each section header to display the options available for that Type. Example: Expand the list of Storage Locations so you can pick one or more to count.
- Check the box to the left to select the option(s) you want from those available, or check the box at the top to select the entire list. Example: From the list, choose which Storage Locations to count.
