Overtime Rule Details
The section labeled “Overtime Rules” on the Labor Rules detail screen for State/Province and Union allows for the setup of Overtime Rules based on a variety of criteria:
- The Daily Hours tab:
- Day based on — Choose either 'Business Day' (as defined in Location Details) or '24 Hours from Employee Clock-in' to determine what defines a single day.
- Hours Worked > — An employee must work more than this many hours in 1 day to earn overtime pay for the day.
- Rate < — If populated, an employee must earn this rate or less to be eligible for daily overtime pay.
- The Weekly Hours tab:
- Hours Worked > — An employee must work more than this many hours in 1 week to earn overtime pay for the week.
- The Days Worked tab:
- Days Worked > — An employee must work more than this many days in 1 week to earn overtime pay for the week.
- The Consecutive Days tab:
- Consecutive Days Worked > — An employee must work more than this many days in a row within 1 week to earn overtime pay those days.
- Hours Worked > — If populated, an employee will be eligible for overtime pay on consecutive days beyond those specified above for any hours worked beyond this many hours.
- The Consecutive Hours tab:
- Consec. Hours Worked > — An employee must work more than this many hours consecutively (without a break) in 1 shift to earn overtime pay for the shift.
- The Fiscal Period tab:
- Hours Worked > — An employee must work more than this many hours in 1 Fiscal Period (as defined on the Financial Calendar) to earn overtime pay for the period.
- Stack OT— Check this box to apply Fiscal Period overtime rules on top of any other applicable overtime rules.
- The Holiday tab:
- Date — An employee must work on the specified date to earn overtime pay for that day. Only dates on or after the Effective Date can be entered.
- Stack OT — Check this box to apply Holiday overtime rules on top of any other applicable overtime rules.
- Applies to <= ___ Hours Worked — This value indicates the maximum number of hours to which Holiday overtime should be applied on top of any other applicable overtime rules.
Note: On each tab, the user must enter an OT Code and an Overtime Multiplier, the factor by which the employee's base rate is multiplied to calculate the overtime rate. (See the "Employee Maintenance" section of the Net-Chef Help for more information on employee pay rates.) The OT Code/Multiplier combination must be unique for each rule type (State vs. Union) to ensure the correct data is exported to Payroll.
