Assigning Storage Locations to Company Products

Each new product must be assigned a primary storage location before it can be purchased, issued, or inventoried. The Assign Storages button allows a corporate user to save one or more products to a storage at multiple locations simultaneously. The product(s) can be assigned to a storage location at any location, even if there is not yet a location product record. The location product record will be created automatically when the storage location assignment is saved. (This functionality is not available in environments using replication.)

Note: If the combined number of products and locations requires this window to display multiple pages, in order to maximize performance users will be restricted to assigning Company Products on the current page only.

 

  1. Under the Products menu, click Company Products. Click HERE to see the summary screen.
  2. Check the box in the Assign Storages column for one or more products or check the "Select All" box at the top of the column.
  3. Click the Assign Storages button.
  4. The pop-up window will display each location, grouped by market. If the product already has an assigned storage at a location, that storage name will be displayed.

Note: If a location is linked to one or more Concepts, users can "Assign Storages" only if they are linked to one or more of the same Concepts. Also, only locations linked to one or more of the same Concepts as the selected product will be displayed.  See "Concepts" for more information.

  1. If necessary, click the Funnel (Filters) icon to access the filter options.
  2. To assign (or re-assign) a storage location for this product at a particular location, choose a storage location from the Select Storage drop-down.
  3. To choose which products will be assigned to this storage:
  • Check one or more boxes in the Select for Storage column.
  • Click Select All Locations for Storage - this will check eligible boxes for all locations/products.
  • Click Select All New Locations for Storage - this will check eligible boxes only for locations/products that do not have an assigned storage location.
  • If necessary, click Deselect All Locations for Storage to clear all check boxes in the Select for Storage column.

The "Select for Storage" box can only be checked for locations with a defined Storage Location that matches the storage selected in Step 6.

  1. Click the Set Storage for Selected Locations button. This will populate the Storage Name field with the storage location selected in Step 6 for all locations/products where the "Select for Storage" box was checked.
  2. For each product you can:
  • Check the box in the Active column to activate (or reactivate) the product at the corresponding location.
  • Check the VO box to allow the product to be ordered from vendors. If not checked, the product will not appear on the Vendor Order, Master Order, or Simple Receipt screens in Net-Chef. To make or clear this assignment for all locations/products displayed, check the Select All check box at the top of the column.
  • Check the Allow Split box to allow the product to be ordered either as a primary or secondary vendor product.
  • Check the Split Only box to allow the product to be ordered only as a secondary vendor product, not as a primary.  {Note}Closed: If this is checked, the product can still be ordered as an Alternate Primary if that box is checked.
  • Check the Alternate Primary box to allow the product to be ordered as an alternate primary vendor product.
  • Check the Alternate Primary Only box to allow the product to be ordered only as an alternate primary vendor product, not as a primary or a split.
  • Check the CO box to allow the product to be re-ordered from a central storage or a commissary facility. If not checked, the product will not appear on the Commissary/Customer Order screens in Net-Chef. To make or clear this assignment for all locations/products displayed, check the Select All check box at the top of the column.
  • Check the Loc. Transfer box to allow the product to be included on a Location-to-Location transfer. If not checked, the product will not appear on the Location Transfer screens in Net-Chef. To make or clear this assignment for all locations/products displayed, check the Select All check box at the top of the column.
  1. Click Save to assign the selected storage locations to the corresponding products.
  2. When finished, click Close.
