Recipe Units and Conversions

Package Types Assigned to Each Recipe:

Note: Only Package Types designated for "Recipe" use will be available.

  • Batch Size is the total amount of a recipe produced at one time.
  • Portion is the size and number of serving units of the recipe. The Yield is the number or portions; the Amount and Package are the size of each portion. This package type becomes the inventory unit of the recipe’s company product record.  {Note}Closed: To ensure accurate conversions from other units to this unit, we strongly recommend that the "Amount" always be set to '1'.
  • Issue Unit is the package type used when the recipe product is issued on Commissary or Customer Order.
  • Recipe Unit 1 and other recipe units assigned to the recipe are package types that allow the recipe to be used as a component in other recipes. They are the units available (on the recipe's Components tab) to measure this item when adding it to another recipe.

Note: For POS Recipes, all of the units are usually '1 EACH'.

Example of Recipe Conversions:

  • The recipe has a Batch Size of 1 Gallon.
  • The Portion Yield of the recipe is one, 1 Gallon portion.
  • The Issue Unit is "Gallon" with a yield of '1'.
  • Recipe Unit 1 is "Ounces" with a yield of '128'.
  • Additional recipe units work in the same way, but are optional.

Note: All conversions refer to how much of the Package Type is required to equal the Batch Size defined.
